Instrument Building
Blog

In 2021 I moved back to Ohio from France where I had been living for 9 years. Shortly after my relocation, I began to take a ceramics class, in a venture to create clay based musical instruments. To my surprise, this class was in many ways a mental refuge from the sense of great uncertainty I was feeling during this drastic life change. Time stops completely in the studio. Hours go by in the blink of an eye where you are completely engrossed in your work.

Follow this blog to see the journey of creating these instruments! Check out the sound clips and video below to hear these instruments in action!

Mud Meditation Performance

These ceramic instruments are featured in a performance called Mud Meditation, which is an ode to the creative process and the emotional landscape of an artist. The premier was performed at the Cleveland Uncommon Sound Project series in June 2024. I am currently collaborating with film maker Naomi Columna for a new version of this show which will integrate film. We began our process at a residency at Avaloch Farm Institute in September 2025. The new version will premier in 2027. This new version can be presented as a live performance and/or installation experience.
